Kabel–X is a new technology that facilitates the extraction of old, outdated, underground cable from the original cable conduit without the need for digging. Kabel–X is a service technology that allows for the clearing of underground cable from its conduit which in turn is used as a sleeve/pipe in which new cables can be inserted.
After the removal of the old cable from the cable sheath, or conduit, “mini ducts” can be filtered through the original underground conduit and filled with fiber optic cables.
For example: A 25 year old underground communication cable made of copper, with limited ability to transfer data, can now be updated with brand new fiber optics, which has significantly higher transfer abilities, without the need for digging up the infrastructure. During the updating process, the original underground conduit remains buried in the ground.
Kabel–X provides a complete systems solution in the updating of existing cable infrastructures. Revolutionary in design, yet so user friendly in its application, Kabel–X allows for the installation of new cables in record time and at considerably less cost per running meter.
Kabel–X is unique in all the world and is patented in 110 countries. Kabel–X backs up its product with ongoing technical support, training of personnel as well as field manuals and all necessary equipment to do the job right the first time.
How the Kabel–X System Works
Two holes are dug in the ground. One at the beginning of the cable that is to be replaced, and the other at the end of the cable.
The cable is exposed on both ends. On one end, a connector or “muff” is attached. This “muff” is then attached to a pump which injects a special fluid around the cable core. This fluid is formulated specifically for the individual cable being extracted. Each cable requires a unique formula of fluid.
The fluid is injected under exacting pressure to assure proper dispersal. The fluid eventually coats the entire cable and exits at the opposite end.
A special winch with a specified torque for the specific application is then used to extract the cable from the conduit. During the extraction of the copper core, “mini ducts” are inserted for fiber optics. Fiber optics can be blown in over a distance of 6 kilometers.
